Equipment and Technologies

Mazak VTC

In the first quarter 2001, Ross recently acquired and put into operation a new Mazak VTC-200C in it's Machine Shop Division. The VTC-200C will allow Ross to make more competitive quotes and assist in decreasing customer's lead times.

This machine has many features. One of which is it's capability of a dividing table to run two different parts at one time, or by removing a divider and running one large part. This will provide more flexibility for part choices. This machine is extremely fast and with it's state of the art options will be a welcome addition to the Machine Shop Division.

Hunter HMP20

The addition of the Hunter HMP 20 flaskless molding machine compliments Ross' sand molding processes. The fully automatic Hunter HMP 20 will accept a 20" X 24" matchplate pattern. The unique molding operation of the Hunter allows Ross to use techniques available to squeezer molding but at a reduced cost. The installation includes an automatic mold handling system designed and built by the Ross Maintenance Department.

Fadel VMC 4020 CNC Milling Center

The latest addition to Ross Aluminum's Pattern Shop Division has been the acquisition of a Fadel VMC 4020 CNC Milling Center. Ross is using this machine along with our CAD/CAM systems to improve our tooling capabilities and reduce lead times. This, along with our partnerships with rapid prototyping facilities, allows Ross flexibility in our tool making from conventional blue prints to CAD files. We are able to work a variety of CAD formats, such as IGES, DWG, DFX, STEP and others. Ross is able to handle data transfers in several ways also. We utilize e-mail, 4mm DAT tapes, modem-to-modem, floppies and FTP transfers from a customers site.

This technology allows Ross to give our customers a much needed service, improved communications, and helps reduce lead times on new products. We are excited about the future of this service and the value it will add for our customers.

For more information on this technology you can e-mail our
